What are the festival dates?
The festival starts on Thursday 1st August. The event will run into the morning of the 5th August.
Where is the festival?
Praia da Rocha, about two miles south of Portimão, is the town’s main beach, where the remains of Fort of Santa Catarina (Forte da Santa Catarina), a 17th-century fort lie. The festival site is situated in the picturesque Praia da Rocha. We cannot wait to show you the incredible festival site we’ve designed uniquely for Afro Nation 2019.
What are the festival times?
There are festival events running from each afternoon until the early hours of the next day with live performances and entertainment throughout. Can I go in and out of the festival site every night?
Yes, with your wristband you can go to and from the festival site and in to each venue as often as you’d like.
What happens if I lose my wristband?
Wristbands will only be issued once and broken / lost wristbands will not be replaced. Please look after them!
Are there any birthday packages available
Unfortunately we aren’t offering any birthday packages at this time.
When will boat parties be released / When will full itinerary be out (boat parties, pool parties, etc..)
All ticket holders will be the first to know when boat parties and additional event information is announced.
Are there any tickets left?
Afro Nation festival 2019 has now completely sold out. There are no tickets available at this time.
Can i upgrade my ticket to VIP?
Unfortunately there are no ticket upgrades available.

After purchasing your ticket you will receive a confirmation email, your tickets will be sent to you via email 4 weeks before the festival.
What’s included in my festival ticket?
Your festival ticket gets you 4 days access to the festival main stage area and pool parties, VIP tickets include access to the festival VIP area which includes a pool, nightclub, table service and a dedicated bar. *Drinks and tables are not included in the ticket price.
How can I change my address?

Can I sell my ticket?
Unfortunately all tickets are non-transferable and we are unable to offer any refunds for tickets no longer needed.

Can I use tickets bought with my old/lost card?
Please bring your new card & official form of ID with you and a letter / bill that matches your account’s address and you will be able to exchange for your festival wristband.
What age do I have to be?
Afro Nation Festival is an 18+ only event and you will need ID to prove your age to guarantee entry.
What do I need to bring to guarantee entry?
Please bring your ticket, the card you purchased the ticket with and valid photo ID.
What constitutes valid Photo I.D.?
Photographic form of identifications, i.e. a passport or driving licence, are acceptable.
What if the ticket is not in my name?
As long as the person who purchased the ticket is present, you will be able to collect your wristband to enter the festival.
What If i don’t have the card used to purchased the ticket?
If you are unable to present the card you paid with, you will need the following to exchange your e-ticket for a wristband on site:
1 – A signed cover letter from card holder
2 – A clear scan of the card used
3 – A clear scan of passport or driving license of card holder
What needs to be on a cover letter from card holder?
A written letter giving you consent from the card holder that matches the billing address of your booking. This needs to be signed and dated by the card holder.
Can you attend the boat parties on general admission tickets?
No, boat parties will be sold separately — line-up and tickets coming soon.
Will VIP tickets be sold in June?
If there are any cancellations on VIP tickets between now and June, there may be a limited amount available subject to availability.
Can I cancel my payment plan?
Yes, please contact your ticket provider directly for more information on how to do this.
Where should I stay?
Visit our travel partners Travel Republic, who offer a range of hotels to suit all budgets. Please note due to popular demand, a lot of the accommodation near the festival site has now been booked. We have created a new page of accommodation that covers resorts along the coastline but within a 30 minute drive / bus journey to the main festival site.
Can you camp at Afro Nation Festival?
Camping is not available on site. However we have a range of accommodation including fantastic deals on apartments and hotels. Book through our official travel partner Travel Republic.
How should I resolve an issue at my hotel?
Please speak with your hotel provider directly.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Times for individual hotels/apartments vary, and can be found out by contacting Travel Republic or your accommodation directly.
How can I safely store belongings?
Most of the hotel rooms come with safety deposit boxes in the rooms although some do require a nominal fee for their use. More information is available on safety deposit boxes at individual hotels when booking.

What are my flight options to Portugal?
Portugal has great connections with all major UK airports flying directly into Faro – these can all be booked with our travel provider, Travel Republic.
Which airport should I fly into?
Faro is the closest airport to the festival. Travel Republic fly direct to the airport from across the UK and many European and African destinations.
How hot is it in Portimao?
The average temperature in August is 26 degrees in Portimao, with 10 hours of sunshine.
Where are the best areas to stay?
Portimao has plenty of accommodation options, you can find the perfect place for you with our travel partners Travel Republic.

Are there cash machines on site?
There are cash machines across Portimao where you can withdraw Euros.
What currency do I need to bring?
The official currency used is the Euro, which can be bought easily at the bank, the post office or at the airport.
Food and drink – You’re completely spoilt for choice when it comes to seafood in The Algarve. Bacalhau, the national salted cod dish which can be cooked in 365 different ways, is a must-try. The beverage selection includes the national drink aguardiente – a strong fortified wine – while the price of a pint of beer averages at €1,50. Happy days.
Portimao Marina – Located at the eastern point of Praia da Rocha, Portimão Marina (Marina de Portimão) is where you’ll find a host of seafood spots and pizzerias. If you’re feeling active, jets skis are available to hire, with kiosks also chartering small yachts and motorboats.
Lagos Old Town – Lagos Old Town is just a 30-minute car journey from Portimão. Once there, you’ll be greeted with beautiful buildings, such as the 15th century slave market, and cobblestone streets and can get educated in the town’s museum. It’s well worth a trip.
Benagil Caves Tour – In this two-hour guided tour you’ll enter the sea caves by boat and feast your eyes on stunning natural rock formations. Don’t forget your camera or phone as this is certainly an attraction for the ‘gram.
